Research ethics: Working in/with Aboriginal communities

A School of Education seminar presented on Wednesday, July 11th, 2018 by Associate Professor Bob Boughton

Equity and Diversity Research Network cordially invites SOE colleagues to the forthcoming seminar by Associate Professor Bob Boughton, whose research experience over the last three decades has mainly been gained by working in Indigenous communities with Indigenous community-controlled organisations. Bob will help us understand the key principles and guidelines which non-Indigenous researchers like himself must follow when undertaking research with Indigenous communities. He will take us through the key ethical guidelines and principles for research involving Indigenous peoples and then use his ongoing adult literacy campaign/research work with Aboriginal peoples in remote communities of NSW to contextualise the discussion of such guidelines and principles. This seminar is particularly relevant for HDR students and early career researchers who are interested in undertaking research with Indigenous peoples and in Indigenous communities.
