Businesses and Community
UNE supports individuals within communities, and communities within regions. We work with diverse communities including rural, remote, and metropolitan, in Australia and overseas.
Through teaching, research and engagement, we partner with communities to respond to local priorities, strengthen regional resilience and deliver practical solutions to real-world challenges.
How we work with communities
Transformative education and research
UNE delivers teaching and research informed by community engagement and local knowledge. Our work reflects the unique aspirations of each community we serve and is designed to create meaningful, practical outcomes.
Regional resilience and sustainability
We contribute to stronger regional futures by addressing challenges such as climate variability, drought preparedness and agricultural productivity through applied research and technology adoption.
Economic and business growth
UNE supports emerging businesses and entrepreneurs, helping to build resilient regional economies and create new opportunities across rural and regional Australia.
Supporting regional business and entrepreneurship
UNE’s SMART Region Incubator supports founders across agriculture technology, health technology, clean technology, creative industries and business services. Through mentoring, masterclasses and growth programs, the incubator helps regional businesses scale, attract investment and build sustainable futures.
