Records and Information Management

Records and Information Management involves the proactive and effective practices of storing records, information and data in the appropriate locations and formats to ensure they are protected and easily accessible.

University records, information and data

UNE’s records are its corporate memory. Records can take many forms and formats, providing crucial evidence of actions and decisions and acting as an essential asset that supports daily operations and functions. These records safeguard the interests of the University, as well as the rights of our staff, students, alumni and the broader community, supporting UNE to deliver its services consistently and equitably.

Data holds the key to unlocking insights that support our effective decision making. In the dynamic landscape of higher education, understanding the fundamentals of data is integral in our pursuit of academic and institutional excellence.

Records, information and data governance

The University applies a principles based approach to the governance of University Records to ensure compliance with the requirements of the   State Records Act 1998 (NSW), and other relevant legislation legislation.

The records and information governance  framework of policies, procedures and practices control the collection, management, and use of information and data at UNE.  A robust data governance framework aims to improve data quality, enhance decision-making, ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate security risks, facilitate data integration, and optimise cost management.

This framework ensures that the University retains evidence of business transactions and meets its legislative recordkeeping requirements.
