Higher Degree Research
Furthering your research interests
As a graduate, you may be considering further studies to extend your professional interests or research. At UNE, there are two Higher Degree by Research (HDR) courses that may interest you:
Master of Education (Research) (MEdR) is a research pathway which may lead directly into Doctoral programs, by expanding your knowledge of contemporary education while also building your research skills.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is the pinnacle of academic study. Using rigorous and systematic research, combined with critical analysis, you will add to society's understanding of complex issues at the cutting-edge of your discipline or profession.
Your research proposal
Students enrolled in research degrees (PhD or MEdR) within the School of Education are required to develop a detailed research proposal.
If you are a MEdR student, you will undertake four 500 Level units and as part of these you will develop your research proposal. You will have the first six months of your course to develop your proposal or 12 months if you are a part-time candidate.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students are expected to develop a proposal within the first 12 months, or 24 months for part-time candidates.
