Resources for the Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA)

The Graduate Teaching Performance Assessment (GTPA) is a government-mandated requirement for all Teacher Education Students.

It must be completed during the Teacher Education Student's final period of professional experience

This page has been created to house documentation and processes to assist Supervising Teachers through this final graduate professional experience placement.

The Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA) is an integrated competence assessment that connects the academic program and the placement program in schools. It requires preservice teachers to connect research, theory, and practice.

The GTPA is a single authentic assessment undertaken for summative purposes in a final-year professional experience placement. It includes five practices: planning, teaching, assessing, reflecting, and appraising. It provides evidence of competence for classroom practice and ability assessed against the Graduate Teacher Standards (Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, AITSL, 2011).
