Hub Schools Initiative

The Hub Schools Initiative is a partnership working with schools to increase placements and reduce administration for placements. It aims to build a social community of practice for teachers education students and create better links with schools for placement. As time progresses, the number of these hubs will increase.

To apply for placement in one of the Hub Schools tick the box(es) at the top of the Placement Assistance Form and fill in the appropriate table under the heading "Hub Schools Initiative"

When applying to a given hub you may be placed in any school within that hub and will not have a choice of specific school.

Sydney Hub Schools

The Office for Professional Learning (OPL) has entered into a partnership agreement with a number of schools in two parts of Greater Sydney, namely South Eastern Sydney and the Penrith-Blue Mountains area. Negotiations are continuing with other schools in these two districts and more schools will be added to the list of participating schools so watch this space.

Teacher Education Students (TES) wishing to be placed in any of these schools will need to apply to be placed in the Sydney Cluster Initiative for one or more professional experience placements.

To apply simply tick the box labelled Sydney Schools Cluster at the top of the Professional Experience Placement Assistance Form and complete Table 5: Sydney Schools Cluster on page 3.The OPL will then allocate the student to one of the cluster schools.

Students may choose one or both clusters, but it will not be possible to nominate specific schools within the cluster including those added in the future. All placements to these schools will be arranged via the partnership arrangements.

Three placement periods will operate in the clusters as it is envisaged that TESs placed in the same time period will be able to share their experiences in a peer network both within the school and between the cluster schools. The commencement dates for placements in 2020 are; Term 2 April 27th (Week 1), Term 3 August 10th (Week 4) and Term 4 November 2nd (Week 4).

Tamworth Department of Education Hub Schools

The Office for Professional Learning (OPL) has entered into a partnership agreement with the Department of Education schools in Tamworth. The participating schools are:

To apply simply tick the box labelled Tamworth Schools Cluster at the top of the Professional Experience Placement Assistance Form and complete Table 4: Tamworth Schools Cluster on page 3. The OPL will then allocate the student to one of the cluster schools. It will not be possible to nominate specific schools within the cluster. All placements to these schools will be arranged via the partnership arrangements.

Armidale Diocese Hub Schools

The Office for Professional Learning (OPL) has entered into a partnership agreement with the Catholic Schools Office (CSO) in the Armidale Diocese. Teacher Education Students (TESs) who are interested in teaching in Catholic schools are invited to apply to one or more of the clusters listed below for professional experience placements. Scholarships and assistance with accommodation during placements may be available in some cases. Applicants need not be Catholic.

Allocation to individual schools will be administered by the CSO and it will not be possible to nominate specific schools within a cluster. It is expected that all placements to these schools will be arranged via the partnership.

To apply simply tick the box labelled Armidale Catholic Diocese Cluster at the top of the Professional Experience Placement Assistance Form and complete Table 3: Armidale Catholic Diocese Schools Cluster on page 3.

The schools in the diocese will be organised into four primary school clusters and one secondary school cluster.
