Critical Theory

A School of Education seminar presented on May 25th, 2016 by Professor Margaret Sims

What is critical theory? How important is knowledge and awareness of critical theory for scholars and practitioners who are involved in education? How does critical theory influence the conduct of research? How different is research imbued with critical theory from that of traditional approaches to research? What are some examples of critical theory employed in research?
In this seminar, Prof Margaret Sims will address all these important questions pertaining to critical theory. She will also be using examples from her own work to highlight the various ways in which critical theory informs educational research.
