Congratulations on your Early Entry offer!

At UNE, you get a complete university experience: a vibrant, supportive community; small classes; and access to your expert lecturers. Affordable on campus living puts you right at the heart of the action, giving you maximum independence and access to academic, sporting and social facilities.

All of this means that you get every opportunity to reach your full potential and get the very best start, plus some great memories along the way.

1. Understand your offer and options

Now that you’ve received your offer, you can decide if you'd like to accept, defer, or decline your offer.

The information below may help to answer any questions you may have about your offer and what to do next. You can also contact our friendly Future Student Team on 1800 818 865 if you need help.

How to accept my offer?

Accept your offer by enrolling online. You can do this now as enrolment opened on 1 November 2023. Read more about how to enrol in the Accept and Enrol section.

We encourage you to refer to the Get Started page for more information about your offer, including any specific course requirements which may apply. You'll need to understand these requirements before you accept your offer.

Didn't get the offer you were expecting?

We can help you understand your pathways into your preferred course.

Your alternate offer will be in a similar study area to at least one of your course preferences. This means that it will include similar content to your preferred course and is designed to equip you with the foundational knowledge essential for successful study.

It can also provide you with the opportunity to progress into your preferred course in a later intake – often after the successful completion of one trimester of full-time study*.

It may be possible that some of the units you choose in your alternate offer can later count towards your preferred UNE course.

The Future Student Team can help you understand how you can use your offer for an alternate course to get you where you need to go, so please give us a call on 1800 818 865 or email us at earlyentry@une.edu.au and we will be happy to help!

Once your ATAR is released you may be eligible for your preferred course via direct application to UNE, UAC or QTAC. UNE offers an ATAR Adjustment Scheme for applicants from regional, rural or remote areas which could add 5 points to your ATAR when you apply.

*Please note, some courses such as Nursing, Pharmacy, Teaching and Social Work may have higher English Language Requirements which students will also need to meet.

How to change offer (multiple offers)?

If you received multiple offers via Early Entry, you can request to change your offered course up until 16 February 2023. To change your offers please contact us via AskUNE and include your student number and the offer you now wish to study in your enquiry.

Some courses have earlier deadlines:

  • If you are changing your offer to the Bachelor of Nursing, you will need to request to change your offer by 21 December 2023. Quotas apply to the number of places available within the Bachelor of Nursing. See the ‘Have an offer for the Bachelor of Nursing?’ section for further information.
  • If you are changing your offer to a teaching degree, you will need to provide a personal statement to receive an unconditional offer. See the information in the ‘Have a conditional offer for a teaching degree?’ section for more information .
Do I need to put my Early Entry offer/s as a preference in UAC?

No. UNE’s Early Entry is completely separate to the Universities Admission Centre (UAC). You do not need to put the course/s you have received an Early Entry offer for in your UAC application.

If you want to accept your offer, see the ‘How to accept my offer?’ section above.

If you have applied via both UNE’s Early Entry and UAC’s Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) we recommend you contact the Future Student Team on 1800 818 865 or email us at earlyentry@une.edu.au for advice.

Change from on campus to online study?

If you have received an on campus offer and wish to change this to online, you will need to contact us via AskUNE to request a change of study mode. Please include your student number and course in your enquiry.

All offers are made for on campus study, except for a few courses which are only available online: the Pathways Enabling Course, Diploma in Community Welfare and Wellbeing, Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science and Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology.

If you change to online study, please be aware that some online courses have mandatory intensive schools. This is most often for courses in areas such as Science and Health. If your course has mandatory intensive schools you will need to attend these at the Armidale, NSW campus. Additionally, some courses have face-to-face professional experience (or work experience) requirements regardless of whether you study the course on campus or online. For example, if you have a teaching offer you will need to complete professional experience in a school. You can check the units (subjects) in your course to see whether these have any intensive schools or professional experience, or if you are unsure contact the Future Student Team for advice.

I have an online offer can I study on campus?

If you have received an offer for the Pathways Enabling Course, the Diploma in Community Welfare and Wellbeing, Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science and Bachelor of Clinical Exercise Physiology these courses are only available to study online. This means you do not study the courses on campus.

As an online student you will need to select the online study mode when enrolling in your units (subjects).

If you have an offer for online study you should check whether any of the units (subjects) in your course have mandatory intensive schools which are held on campus. This is most often for Science and Health units.

Do I need to study full-time?

Early Entry offers are made for full-time study. The only exception is the Pathways Enabling Course which is offered part-time only.

Please see this AskUNE answer for information about studying full-time.

Do I still need to complete my Year 12 or TAFE Tertiary Preparation Course?

All 2024 Early Entry Offers are made with the expectation that you will complete the requirements of your Australian Year 12 qualification, or a TAFE Tertiary Preparation Certificate, in 2023.

Have a conditional offer for a teaching degree?

Early entry offers for the following teaching courses are conditional:

  • Bachelor of Education (K-6 Teaching)
  • Bachelor of Education (Secondary Arts)
  • Bachelor of Education (Secondary STEM)
  • Bachelor of Special and Inclusive (Education Primary).
  • Bachelor of Education (K-12 Teaching)

This means you have to provide additional information before you are eligible to receive an unconditional offer and can enrol.

To meet the conditions of your offer, you'll need to register your myUNE account and provide your Personal Statement to UNE before teaching commences on Monday 26 February 2024. The purpose of the personal statement is to understand your interest and motivation for teaching. The statement is made of four questions and can be submitted via this online form.

Once we receive your statement you will get an email confirming that you have satisfied the conditions of your offer. Once your condition is satisfied you will then be able to accept your offer and enrol in your course.

For information see the Accept and Enrol section.

Have an offer for the Bachelor of Nursing?

Please note that quotas apply to the number of students studying the Bachelor of Nursing in 2024.

This means that your Early Entry offer has not secured your place in the course.

The student quota will be filled based on the order in which students enrol into the units of the Bachelor of Nursing when online enrolment opens. The quota is known to fill very fast so you are encouraged to enrol as soon as possible once enrolment opens for this course so you don’t miss out.

Enrolment for the Bachelor of Nursing is expected to open on Wednesday 10 January 2024. Please refer to the Get Started page for updates regarding Nursing enrolment.

If you have any questions about your offer and how to secure your place in the Bachelor of Nursing please contact the Future Student Team on 1800 818 865 or email us at earlyentry@une.edu.au for information.

Please note that the Bachelor of Nursing cannot be deferred.

What happens if I have also applied via UAC’s Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS)?

UAC’s Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) is separate to UNE Early Entry. UNE participates in both schemes.

Those who applied through SRS and were successful were sent outcomes by email on 2 November 2023.

If you have already received an offer for a course via Early Entry you do not need to receive an offer for that same course via SRS. For example, if you have an offer for the Bachelor of Business through Early Entry you do not need to get another offer for the Bachelor of Business via SRS - you can just accept your Early Entry offer.

If you have applied via both UNE’s Early Entry and UAC’s Schools Recommendation Scheme (SRS) we recommend you contact the Future Student Team on 1800 818 865 or email us at earlyentry@une.edu.au for advice.

Can I still apply for other courses at UNE?

If you received an Early Entry offer to study with UNE but have since decided that you want to study a different course, you can still apply directly to UNE or via UAC or QTAC based on your ATAR. UNE offers an ATAR Adjustment Scheme for applicants from regional, rural or remote areas which could adjust 5 points on top of your ATAR when you apply.

If you are thinking about applying for a different course we recommend contacting the Future Student Team on 1800 818 865 or email us at earlyentry@une.edu.au for advice.

How to defer or decline my offer?

Not ready to start in 2024? Defer* your offer

Deferring means that you keep your offer and can commence your studies in a later intake. To request to defer complete the online form or contact us via AskUNE. You will need to advise us of all of the offer/s you wish to defer, your student number and how long you intend to defer for.

Students can usually defer for one year. On-campus students may be eligible to defer for up to two years in total but should apply one year at a time.

You must request to defer prior to the Census date of Trimester 1, 2024 which is 18 March 2024.

*Please note that the Bachelor of Nursing cannot be deferred.

If you no longer wish to study with UNE we would appreciate you contacting us via AskUNE to let us know. This means that we will not continue to contact you about your offer.

Alternatively, you can get in contact with us on 1800 818 865 or email us at earlyentry@une.edu.au to discuss alternative study options.
