Christine Perrott Achievement Scholarship for Women

Background

This scholarship is provided to benefit female students of Duval College who can demonstrate ‘all round’ achievement.

Christine Perrott completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at UNE in 1960 before marrying, moving onto the land and starting a family. Her voluntary work teaching Aboriginal children led to a lasting belief that access to education provides skills, self-belief and confidence.

Completion of her Diploma in Education then Master of Education - First Class Honours with a University Medal - followed and later a Doctor of Philosophy, with a thesis based on classroom research, all through UNE. This along with her many professional achievements were formally recognised in 1993 with the awarding of a Fellowship from the Australian College of Education. The many books, articles and reports Christine has written show her lasting concern in encouraging thinking and critical awareness in students and teachers.
