How did you find UNE lecturers?

The majority of lecturers were great – understanding given distance education, available and helpful.

What was your reason for studying at UNE?

Originally organised by my employee who half-way through made all middle management positions redundant which included me.  I decided that I had to finish my MBA no matter what and really pleased to have done so with UNE.

Chief Executive/Director and business owner of In2 Directions Pty Ltd trading as One World Learning (a registered training organisation since 2009) and In2national Careers – specialist recruitment and business advisory services in HR/IR/ER/WHS.

How has your UNE qualification aided you in your career?

Enormous value in the workplace and the pathway through to DBA which I will complete “one day”, stars aligning.  Post graduate studies have been completed and now just requiring a supervisor for thesis work.

What inspires you inside work and outside work?

Education is the one thing that can change the world.  It is lifelong and what can improve people – personally and professionally, communities, industries and countries.

In this time of Covid-19, how has the virus impacted your work?

Dramatically.  Our core methodology is face to face and yes, switching to online learning does have its advantages but, in my opinion, no where near the impact of being able to touch, sense, feel and read your audience. Cannot wait to get back into the classroom!

Anything else you would like to share?

Waiting for the day where we have a seamless and simple pathway from K-12 > VET > tertiary. I believe that LLN is a fundamental requirement and should be assessed as early as possible in life and re-assessed ongoing to help all peoples with basic through to advanced life-skills and professional skills.  There is a socio-demographic impact for those whose frustrations with LLN impact on self-esteem and can inhibit their potential.  Soft skills such as emotional intelligence and resilience are just so important
