Research Teach Repeat: Applied Computing

The Applied Computing research group at UNE is engaged in cutting-edge research spanning various domains, including computer vision, complex systems, and cybersecurity. Our research in computer vision focuses on developing advanced algorithms for object recognition, image analysis, and autonomous systems, with applications ranging from agriculture to healthcare. In complex systems, we use agent-based modelling to simulate scenarios including the spread of disease and player interactions in sports, helping to understand emergent behaviours and improve decision-making in these fields. Additionally, our cybersecurity research addresses the growing challenges of data protection and network security, with a focus on safeguarding critical infrastructure and developing more resilient systems against cyberattacks. Our work is grounded in solving real-world problems, ensuring that the solutions we develop have practical, far-reaching impacts.
