TTA tutors must have formal qualifications in a relevant area of study, to be considered for the role. Tertiary qualifications from an Australian university, or tertiary qualifications from an international university equivalent to Australian standards will be considered to be appropriate. When tutors register with the program they are required to provide copies of their academic transcripts. Tutors are unable to directly access unit content via myLearn. However a student can download their unit guide and share a copy with their tutor via email. This is probably because the student has not logged into TTA Online and accepted their assignment of a tutor. Encourage the student to log in and accept the offer to be tutored by you. If your student requests assistance in accepting you as your tutor, you can assist them with this as part of your first session, or refer them to Oorala. For tutors
Once a student has submitted an application online, the TTA program coordinator will assess the student’s eligibility. Those eligible will then be assigned a suitable tutor. Students and tutors will be matched based on: Your username and password for TTA Online is the same as your UNE login details. If the student has emailed the tutor and does not receive a response, the student should contact the TTA Program Coordinator. You can phone us on 1800 622 384 or via email at itas@une.edu.au. If you are happy for the TTA Program Coordinator to provide your mobile contact to the tutor, let us know and we will pass this on. If the student feels like the tutor is not the right person to assist them, the student should contact the TTA Program Coordinator. You can phone us on 1800 622 384 or via email at itas@une.edu.au. Tutoring cannot commence until: Tutoring arrangements are not carried into the next teaching period. New applications and offers must be made each trimester before tutoring can commence. Any tutoring held prior to the student and tutor lodging their acceptance via the TTA Admin App will be deemed to have been conducted outside of the TTA program. Consequently, tutorials conducted outside of the program will not be funded by Oorala. If you are unsure when tutoring can begin, please contact the TTA Program Coordinator to confirm. You can phone us on 1800 622 384 or via email at itas@une.edu.au. You should bring the following to your first session: Where possible, we ask that you submit your complaint directly to Oorala in the first instance. This is in accordance with the UNE Student (Related) Grievance Handling Procedure. All complaints must be made in writing via itas@une.edu.au. Written complaints must include the following details: Oorala will acknowledge receipt of your complaint within 2 working days. The response will include a contact person managing the complaint, and the anticipated time for response and solution. If you do not feel comfortable raising your complaint directly with Oorala, you can contact the UNE Student Grievance Unit instead. Tutoring can take place face-to-face or online. Tutors and students should discuss their preference during initial communications, and reach an agreement with one another. If you are located in Armidale, we strongly recommend utilising the Oorala Student lab. The lab can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using your student swipe card. However you will need to speak with the team at Oorala to ensure access has been granted beforehand. The lab has 3 tutorial rooms available for bookings, in addition to 12 computer pods. If you are being tutored face-to-face in the New England and North West region, you might hold your tutorial sessions at one of UNE’s regional study centres. These are located in Tamworth, Taree, Coonabarabran, Gunnedah, Inverell, Moree, Narrabri and Tenterfield. The University’s Sydney Campus, located in Parramatta NSW, is also available as a venue for tutorial sessions. Check here on the UNE website for more information regarding these centres. Alternatively you may opt to meet at your local library, café, park etc. Tutoring can take place in any environment where you will be able to concentrate on your studies and have open conversations with your tutor without distraction. Zoom is a great communication tool available to all students and staff free of charge. This tool not only allows you to see who you are talking to, it also allows you to share documents easily, online. If you need help on how this program works, contact the UNE Helpdesk (02 6773 5000) for assistance. Other students opt to use Facetime, audio phone calls or even emails to exchange ideas and get assistance on their assessment tasks. If you are having issues with the TTA Online, contact the TTA Program Coordinator for assistance. You can phone us on 1800 622 384 or via email at itas@une.edu.au.For students
