Your College Student’s Ultimate Packing Checklist

Study

  • A computer or Laptop

    • Notebooks

    • Anything else you might need to study (i.e. calculator, lab coat etc.)
  • Textbooks (you can get them when you get here, it’s important you get these as soon as your arrival on campus, if they are a requirement of your study program)

Your Room

  • Linen
    • Sheets (Check with your college what size bed is in your room)
    • Quilt/blankets
    • Quilt covers
    • Pillow/s
  • Towels
    • Shower
    • Swimming
  • Kitchen
    • Plates and cutlery
    • Glasses and mugs
    • Saucepan and cooking utensils
    • Food storage containers
    • Food labels
    • Washing up items (liquid and a sponge)
  • Washing
    • Washing powder or liquid
    • Laundry basket (Provided at MWC)
    • Clothes drying rack
    • Pegs
    • Delicate's bag
  • Cleaning
    • Dust cloth
    • Spray and wipe (a vacuum cleaner is provided for you)
  • Decoration Items
    • Photos
    • Fake plants
    • posters (anything to make your room feel like yours!
    • Please note no candle or open flames are permitted)
    • Social activities such as board games or supplies for your hobbies (optional)
    • Bar fridge or TV – If you would like one in you room (these are available in all college common spaces). Please note no electric blankets or heaters are allowed due to safety reasons)
    • A fan! It can be very warm in Armidale during the first few months (A heater is provided in every room)
    • Power board and extension cord – Strictly must have a surge control

You 

  • Toiletries
    • Body wash or soap
    • Shampoo and conditioner
    • Other personal hygiene and grooming products (e.g. shavers, hair brush, make up etc.)
  • Clothes
    • Cool clothes for everyday wear (Armidale can be very warm in the summer)
    • Warm clothes for everyday wear (Armidale can be very cool in the winter)
    • Warm coat
    • Shoes (be sure to bring at least one pair of enclosed shoes) and ugg boots if you get cold feet!Clothes and shoes for sports
    • Pajamas
    • Dressing gown (optional)
    • Formal dinners: this will include formal and cocktail or trousers with a button up shirt and tie
    • Academic Gown: These are provided when you arrive and will be charged to your accommodation account
    • Swimmers: UNE has a brand new pool, Armidale has a town pool and there are lots of waterfalls to find and explore!
    • Costumes
    • White T-shirt for Graffiti night (to be written on) in Wellness week
    • Costumes for college parties: your JCR will contact you before Wellness Week  with themes
