Calling for Expressions of Interest

Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education (HASSE) Faculty Education Committee (FEC)

The Chair of the Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education (HASSE) Faculty Education Committee (FEC) is calling for expressions of interest from students currently enrolled in a course within the Faculty of HASSE who wish to be considered for appointment to the following positions:

Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences and Education (HASSE) FEC
  • 1 x student who identifies as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • 1 x student who is from a non-English as first language background
  • 1 x postgraduate coursework student

The FEC functions as an academic governance and management advisory body to:

  1. oversee Faculty teaching and learning matters and approve or make recommendations about the Faculty’s units and courses, teaching and learning (T&L) activities, student affairs and graduate outcomes in line with academic delegations;
  2. report through the Chair to the Teaching and Learning Committee, in relation to:
    1. academic governance, quality assurance, educational innovations and management of key risks associated with the Faculty’s coursework teaching and learning, coursework student experience, and graduate outcomes, and
    2. development, implementation and review of rules, policies, procedures and guidelines governing the University's coursework teaching and learning and students.
  3. report through the Chair to the Curriculum Committee of Academic Board on the development, implementation, review, improvement and integrity of the Faculty’s courses and taught program; and
  4. advise the Dean and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) on the Faculty’s coursework program and matters associated with the Faculty’s teaching, learning, coursework students and graduates.

As per the Terms of Reference, the appointments will be made by the Associate Dean Teaching and Learning (or nominee) after an expression of interest process.

Medicine and Health (M&H) Faculty Education Committee (FEC)

There are no calls for M&H FEC representatives at present.

Science, Agriculture, Business and Law (SABL) Faculty Education Committee (FEC)

The Chair of the Science, Agriculture, Business and Law (SABL) Faculty Education Committee (FEC) is calling for expressions of interest from students currently enrolled in a course within the Faculty of SABL who wish to be considered for appointment to the following positions:

  • 1 x student who identifies as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • 1 x student who is from a non-English as first language background
  • 1 x undergraduate student
  • 1 x postgraduate coursework student

Environmental and Rural Science (ERS) School Education Committee (SEC)

The Chair of the ERS SEC is calling for expressions of interest from current students who wish to be considered for appointment to the following positions:

Environmental and Rural Science (ERS) SEC

  • up to 2 x undergraduate or postgraduate coursework students currently enrolled in a course within the School of ERS

The ERS SEC meets approximately 10 times per year; usually on the third Wednesday of each month for 2 hours. During the peak period of February to March, Ad Hoc meetings may also be held.

The appointment will be made by the Chair after an expression of interest process.

Science and Technology (S&T) School Education Committee (SEC)

The Chair of the S&T SEC is calling for expressions of interest from current students who wish to be considered for appointment to the following positions:

Science and Technology (S&T) SEC

  • up to 2 x undergraduate or postgraduate coursework students currently enrolled in a course within the School of S&T

The S&T SEC meets approximately 10 times per year; usually on the last Tuesday of each month for 2 hours. During the peak period of February to March, Ad Hoc meetings may also be held.

The appointment will be made by the Chair after an expression of interest process.

Faculty Research Committees (FRC)

There are no calls for FRC representatives at present.


Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment as a student member, students need to be a current student who is (or was) enrolled in a unit for T1 2023, T2 2023 or T3 2023, or has been granted a formal intermission by the University.

Please note that students enrolled on a Non-Award basis, and students who are also UNE employees with a work load of 50% or more, are ineligible to apply.
