Objective Pasture Biomass Sensors
Contact Dr Mark Trotter
PARG has been testing the feasibility of using proximal active plant sensors to determine the green fraction of pastures. These proximal plants sensors can be used to map pasture production across a paddock to enable quantification of feed on offer allowing better management decisions. Researchers in collaboration with Sundown Manager Matthew Monk intend to develop and trial a sensor/PDA combination that can be used in a farm vehicle to provide real-time, in-paddock pasture data to help inform stock rotations.
