What are some of the things covered?

Students can ask any question regarding supported disciplines and units. Our tutors regularly liaise with unit coordinators for up to date themes, learning materials and assessment requirements. Our Tutors can help fill in any leanring gaps, and provide different methods of explanation from the units.

What makes the SciLHub different from PASS and other support services offered at UNE?

The tutors in the Science Learning Hub have a minimum bachelor’s qualification in the discipline of support, and many will be assisting in unit practicals and tutorials. They all have a great rapport with students and can tailor learning sessions to individual or small group needs. Bookings are available at many times when the tutors are available, including evenings. We also offer targeted drop-in sessions (both on campus and online) for some units around major assessment deadlines.

What have students had to say about the SciLHub?

Between T2, 2022 and the end of T2, 2023 we have had over 1500 visits and assisted around 450 individual students from across 50 courses UNE wide.

The top feedback from students has included:

  1. Non-judgemental, supportive tutors
  2. One on one, personalised help
  3. Knowledgably and Professional tutors
  4. Explaining in a different way
  5. Expert specific content help
  6. Convenient and flexible time of support
