Teacher Mandatory Requirements and Checks

See below for lists and links to all of the mandatory requirements UNE students must adhere to before placements are approved, arranged by state or territory of the relevant agency.

NSW
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC)
    • All Teacher Education Students are responsible to ensure they hold a current/valid Working with Children/Vulnerable People Certificate and that it is appropriate to the State they will be undertaking their Professional Experience Placements within.
  • ASCIA anaphylaxis e-training for Australasian schools
    • This online anaphylaxis training certificate is valid for two years
  • Child Protection Awareness Training (CPAT)
    • Induction training only needs to be completed once. A certificate is provided on completion of this training.
  • Child Protection Update (CPU)
    • Once the CPAT is completed, the Mandatory Child Protection Training or Child Protection Update for non-Department staff must be completed annually.
  • COVID-19 Declaration
    • A UNE policy that all students must agree to before placements are confirmed
  • Department of Education Code of Conduct
    • Students must read and agree to the DoE Code of Conduct as part of their mandatory requirements
  • Declaration for Child-Related Work
    • An additional requirement to confirm the completion of a WWCC with the NSW DoE
    • Please note, this is only required by students going on placements in NSW Schools and some Early Childhood settings attached to primary schools. It is not required for stand-alone Early Childhood Centres or Adult Education Centres.
    • Please note: NSW DoE WWCC clearance may take two to six weeks to process. Contact the Probity Unit directly T: 02 7814 3825 or E: wwcc@det.nsw.edu.au if you have any questions about the progress of your WWCC clearance.
  • Literacy and Numeracy Tests (for Final Graduate-level Placements)
    • Not applicable to the Bachelor of Education - In-Service Conversion PREX304-6 placements and students studying Early Childhood Education degrees
