The Oorala Aboriginal Centre exists to service, support and guide all Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait students enrolled at The University of New England. Our team can assist you in the lead up and during your Intensive Schools and Placements. Our team can also assist students applying for Away from Base funding through ABSTUDY.


Do you receive ABSTUDY Payments? * Please Note: If you do not receive ABSTUDY payments you are not eligible to apply for Away from Base Funding. Although you may be eligible to apply for the One-Off Supplement. For further information, please contact Oorala.

Do you need to attend a Placement or Intensive School *
Please Note - You should have received your placement letter from your school.

Do you require accommodation? * INTENSIVE SCHOOL ONLY - Please visit UNE Accommodation Portal to book accommodation at one of the colleges, you will need to select short stays. When you have received an invoice from the UNE residential team, please forward the invoice either to Oorala via AskUNE or you can upload it via your Centrelink Express app.
Do you require assistance for travel? * If Yes - Once your application has been submitted to the ABSTUDY team, you will need to contact ABSTUDY on 1800 132 317 and they will organise your travel.
Do you have a UNE Student ID card? * If No - Please click on the link to apply for a Student ID Card - University of New England (UNE)
Do you require access to Oorala Study Lab? * Please Note: To access Oorala Study Lab, you will need a student ID card.
