TRACKS and Indigenous Australians Orientation

Welcome to Oorala Aboriginal Centre

At UNE, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are guided by a community of experts throughout their study. We know commencing and returning to study can be overwhelming at first, that's why we have online sessions, on campus meet and greet sessions, maps, resources and checklists ready for you to plan to attend.

Welcome to Country

Uncle Colin Ahoy - Elder in Residence"The University of New England in Armidale stands on the country of my people - the Anaiwan people- who are the traditional custodians of this land.  We have shared in the caring of this country with the Gumbaynggirr, Dunghutti and Kamilaroi peoples for generations, and I pay respect to the Elders of these Nations, past and present.

As new students to the University of New England I acknowledge that you come from many diverse Nations across this ancient country, whether you study on-campus here on Anaiwan land, you study online while staying on-country with your mob, or you study online from elsewhere.

I welcome you to our university and wish you well on your study journey with us. The Oorala Centre is your meeting place, where you can share your stories of Country with us, share the highs and lows of your study and be surrounded by culture – ancient and strong.  Welcome."
