Unit information
As healthcare becomes more complex, the potential for unsafe care and adverse events increases. To address this and ensure patient safety, a systematic approach to safety and quality in healthcare is critical.
In this unit you will explore key concepts at the cutting edge of safety and quality in a range of health, community and aged care settings.
Using real world case studies, and reflecting on your own professional experience, you will analyse different frameworks for safety and quality management.
You will develop an understanding of the impact of human and organisational factors on safety and quality in healthcare, learning valuable healthcare management tools and techniques.
Critical evaluation of the components of clinical and corporate governance, and other contemporary systems for risk management relating to quality and safety, will enhance your ability to translate principles of risk prevention into practice in many organisational contexts.

Good Universities Guide 2024Studying online
At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.
We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
