Unit information
The scope of practice for mental health professionals in Australia is underpinned by a range of theories, legislation, policies and standards.
Designed for practitioners wishing to gain qualifications for working in the mental health sector, this unit introduces these interconnecting elements, helping you to develop knowledge and understanding of the factors that govern the scope of practice for mental health professionals.
You will gain an understanding of the Australian recovery-oriented mental health framework and professional mental health documentation practices.
Using an evidence-based approach, you will also explore current service delivery models, and examine your own professional role within the context of collaborative, interprofessional practice.
With opportunities to engage in critical self-reflection and extend your knowledge, the unit will help you to enhance your clinical practice in rapidly changing mental health settings.

Good Universities Guide 2024Studying online
At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.
We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
