Unit information
Develop the knowledge and skills to help young children to learn in a holistic way. This unit teaches the theory and practice of integrating curriculum through a Project Approach - an in-depth investigation of a topic worth learning more about.
You will learn how to evaluate the suitability of a topic, anticipate the needs of the children involved, plan for first-hand experiences, support children's investigations and representations and document and evaluate the learning that is occurring.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- identify a worthwhile topic for investigation and plan, implement and evaluate a project;
- justify the importance of young children raising questions, investigating things of interest to them;
- guide children in the utilisation of local resources, first hand experiences and multimodal ways of demonstrating understandings;
- document young children's learning across the curriculum in the context of a project;
- describe the value of integrated teaching and learning in the education of young children; and
- continue to develop and articulate their teaching philosophy.
