Unit information
This unit provides you with an exciting opportunity to engage with contemporary Indigenous perspectives, knowledge and practices in the creative industries.
You will explore a range of topics that you will also encounter if you are studying other units in Media and Communications or Writing. These include the areas of screen and media, writing and publishing, and digital interfaces.
By exploring creative arts and industries in ways that are informed by Indigenous worldviews, you will enhance your knowledge, skills and cultural understanding. As such, this unit will help to foster lifelong learning, community engagement and skills for the changing world of work in a range of sectors.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of Indigenous worldviews, knowledge and contemporary practices in creative industries;
- gather and evaluate information from a range of sources on creative industries topics, including uses of new technologies to explore diverse social experiences and cultural issues; and
- demonstrate skills of organisation and communication to express ideas and perspectives with a degree of independence.
