Unit information
Early childhood educators have the privilege and responsibility of helping a child form their first impressions of school and learning. It is crucial that you, as a pre-service teacher, understand the intricacies involved in how children learn and how this influences your day to day teaching practice.
In this unit you will explore what it means to be a classroom teacher. The students you teach throughout your career will have a diverse range of learning styles and needs and you will be required to cater to these needs.
The unit covers active and passive learning, constructivist learning theory, cooperative learning, effective questioning techniques, lesson planning, graphic organisers and explores how teachers can cater for multiple intelligences.

Good Universities Guide 2024Studying online
At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.
We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
