In this  practical and engaging unit, you will explore a range of methods used in advanced biotechnology and molecular biology. Its project-based nature allows you to develop specialised knowledge and advanced techniques as well as project management skills in this rapidly evolving field of study.

Not only will you evaluate and adapt methods for real world problems in a variety of scenarios, you will also build your team work and independent work skills in a research project context.

Notes

In addition to the intensive school, there will be five (5) two hour workshops (one per fortnight) held on campus and simultaneously online (live). It is expected that students attend, either in person or online (live).

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. evaluate and adapt methods found in the current literature for real world problems;
  2. develop applications of molecular biology and biotechnology with biomedical, industrial, forensic and environmental applications;
  3. communicate solutions to problems using biotechnology and molecular biology; and
  4. exercise team work and independent work in a research project context.
