Notice of Intent to submit a Grant Application

A Note on Major & Complex Schemes

Large-scale, competitive grants like those from the Australian Research Council (ARC) require months of strategic planning. They are not applications you can begin a few weeks out.

Please note as of January 2026 ARC Schemes are currently under review. We recommend you subscribe to our Research Services Mailing List for important updates, if you haven't done so already.

To better support our researchers, Faculties and Schools, the Grants team has implemented a Notice of Intent process for anyone intending to submit a research grant application.

If there is a scheme for which you're interested in preparing an application, please let us know. The sooner we know, the more support we can offer!

We can:

  • check eligibility requirements
  • facilitate internal approvals
  • assist with Pure applications
  • offer compliance advice

To give us time to review the scheme guidelines and offer tailored submission advice, aim to have your NOI to us 15 working days before external submission deadline.

Please copy and paste the following into your Notice of Intent email
