Tamworth NSW
Preparing resilient Nurses and Teachers for challenging careers in our region.
UNE, deeply committed to both its students and the region, recognises the vital role played by its Tamworth campus in fostering a community where learning flourishes. The launch of RaPT marks a significant milestone in UNE’s commitment.
Our objective is to provide "wrap around support" and create a local community of learning, wellbeing & resiliency in Tamworth for our UNE Nursing & Education students.
Empowering the Future: Nursing and teaching students will embark on a transformative educational journey, equipping them with the academic and wellbeing support, learning tools, mentoring and professional expertise they need to thrive in our vibrant regional community.
Redefining Teaching and Nursing Education: Recognising the unique challenges faced by regional professionals, RaPT is set to support students’ academic journey and transform the way they prepare for their careers.
RaPT offers a new level of individualised academic support tailored to meet each student's specific learning requirements. RaPT academic support backs up the nursing and education undergraduate degrees delivered by expert academic teams at UNE. With support from the UNE Tamworth Academic Skills Coordinator, Beth Boland, as well as experienced local educators and professionals, support students to engage in activities designed to supercharge their academic achievements and outcomes. An in-depth consultation with current students has identified their specific requirements and include such activities as essay writing, research skills and referencing just to name a few. Navigating the online academic journey can be a tough challenge. RaPT provides robust academic support, guiding students on their educational paths to ensure timely graduation and a seamless academic journey. By offering tailored support and fostering a keen sense of community, RaPT aims to bolster student retention rates. Engaged and satisfied students are more likely to persevere and achieve their academic and career goals. With industry connections and well-defined pathways, RaPT recognises the importance of keeping graduates in our region. Recognising the benefits of real-world experience, RaPT builds partnerships with local professionals and retired experts. This unique model encourages students to step into the shoes of industry veterans, gaining invaluable insights and professional exposure in nursing and education fields. These connections not only enrich the learning experience but also open doors to future employment opportunities and career prospects. Recognising the power of belonging, RaPT encourages active participation in specialised development programs and mentoring, nurturing a supportive community that extends beyond the UNE online learning experience. RaPT is laying the social infrastructure for a successful launchpad ahead of the UNE Tamworth campus opening in 2026. Prioritising the overall wellbeing of students ensures their readiness for the educational journey and future professional roles within our region. UNE's commitment extends beyond academic success; it encompasses the preparation of students to be professionals who contribute to the health and sustainability of our region. Networking opportunities, practical skill development, and a sense of belonging within the education and nursing community all contribute to their readiness for a robust regional workforce. RaPT taps into the passion, understanding, and empathy that motivate students to choose careers dedicated to the future wellbeing of our region. As a comprehensive program addressing the diverse needs of regional students, RaPT underscores UNE's commitment to fostering excellence in teaching and nursing professions while bolstering the regional workforce.
