Notes

Enrolment in Trimester 3 is available to repeating students only and requires permission from the Head of School of Science and Technology.

This unit meets the practicum requirements for Exercise Science accreditation with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). To facilitate the organisation of practicum placements, students will complete an interview with the practicum program staff. During this interview individual circumstances e.g. location, work commitments, career aspirations etc. are discussed and are used to plan the placements to be undertaken.

The 140 hours in this unit can be arranged from a number of practicum sites including the areas of sports science/sports performance, workplace health, hospital/clinical services and exercise and sports science research.

Students are expected to travel to meet practicum site and supervisor requirements. The practicum office will assist in arranging suitable sites, however there is an expectation that the student actively participates with staff in these arrangements.

Current students are directed to contact the Placement Office via AskUNE www.une.edu.au/askune

Please refer to the student handbook for current details on this unit.

Studying online

At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.

We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*

Why study with us?

Graduate and mother Claire Haiek at work as a parenting producer at kidspot.com.au

I'm grateful to UNE for the opportunities studying has given me, but above all, for making me realise I could actually do it, and giving me a sense of accomplishment.
