Unit information
In an era of rapidly rising healthcare expenditure, Australian health services are under pressure. Ethical, evidence-based decision making in health management, informed by epidemiologic data, ensures that resources are directed appropriately by considering the incidence, distribution and impact of disease and risk factors.
Enhance your healthcare management skills with this comprehensive introduction to the principles, concepts and methods of epidemiology and their interrelationship with key elements in healthcare management.
Learn how these concepts apply to a range of evolving healthcare areas including health promotion, and public and population health, by exploring contemporary real-world examples.
Evaluate various epidemiologic case studies to develop your ability to interpret statistical data and use epidemiological evidence as a tool to inform your critical thinking and judgement in healthcare decision making.

Good Universities Guide 2024Studying online
At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.
We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
