Unit information
This unit develops your theoretical understanding of the management of common chronic conditions within the scope of practice of clinical an accredited exercise physiologist. Primarily, you will achieve this through the application of prior knowledge gained within the foundation areas of exercise and sports science.
Using evidence-based learning, you’ll learn about the aetiology and pathophysiology of chronic conditions including, but not limited to cardiovascular, renal, metabolic and pulmonary conditions and develop your understanding of pharmaceutical, medical, surgical and exercise-based interventions for the diagnosis and management of such conditions.
Upon completion of the unit, you will be able to critically analyse the role exercise has on the management of a range of chronic conditions. You will also be able to synthesise this knowledge to formulate effective, individualised exercise-based interventions.
