Honours in Studies in Religion is a one-year (full time) program that enables you to become a subject matter expert through in-depth research on an approved topic of your choice.

The program is a combination of two coursework modules and a dissertation, both significantly enhancing your transferable research, critical thinking and communication skill set.

Course work essays will enable you to explore and master key theoretical perspectives, concepts and important methodological issues in the study of religious phenomena. Your dissertation topic allows you to deeply investigate a question or theme, with guidance from your supervisor.

An Honours degree will position you for success if you want to stand out in your career, continue your research path to a PhD or become an expert in your field.

Woman studying online at home

Studying online

At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.

We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*

Why study with us?

I'm grateful to UNE for the opportunities studying has given me, but above all, for making me realise I could actually do it, and giving me a sense of accomplishment.
