Unit information
Honours in Political and International Studies is a one-year (full time) program that enables you to become a subject matter expert through in-depth research on a topic of your choice, in consultation with your supervisor.
The program is a combination of a series of essays and a dissertation, both of which significantly enhance your transferable research, critical thinking and communication skill set.
Essay work will enable you to explore and master key theoretical perspectives, concepts and important empirical trends in political and international studies. In the dissertation component, you will research and write a thesis on a topic that interests you, allowing you to explore and analyse a significant theory, policy or trend in considerable depth.
An Honours degree will position you for success if you want to stand out in your career, continue your research path to a PhD or become an expert in your field.

Good Universities Guide 2024Studying online
At UNE we know it takes more than just being online to be a great online university. It takes time and experience. We pioneered distance education for working adults back in the 1950s, so we’ve been doing this longer than any other Australian university.
We understand the challenges faced by busy adults studying at home. We know that a vital part of online study is your engagement with the learning community. Communication with your classmates, teaching staff and university support staff will enhance your study experience and ensure that your skills extend beyond the subject matter. UNE’s teaching staff are experts in their field which is why UNE consistently receives five stars from students for teaching quality, support and overall experience.*
