Honours candidates only (continuing). The main pedagogical method is the fostering of a close relationship between the student and his/her supervisors. This relationship will develop a structured regime of consultation involving frequent contact that examines the student's progression on all relevant matters.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate the skills required to formulate intellectually significant questions pertaining to a selected area of criminology;
- apply autonomy and judgement and demonstrate higher order, independent research skills;
- exhibit advanced analytical abilities and a skill in combining a broad range of research materials, from various resources in order to answer their dissertation question; and
- communicate effectively through writing an extended research dissertation based on the student's own question and research.
