The Student Accessibility & Wellbeing Office (SAWO) aims to create an inclusive learning environment for UNE's diverse student population by helping students overcome barriers to their university studies.
Who We Support
SAWO coordinates services and support for various student groups, including those:
- with a disability and/or health condition
- who are carers
- victim-survivors of domestic violence
- residing in rural and remote areas
- incarcerated
- on permanent humanitarian visas
- members of the defence force and emergency services
- elite athletes
We are committed to ensuring all our students have access to equal learning opportunities.

Please be aware that with the start of Trimester 2, 2025, we are experiencing high demand for phone appointments. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to support all students.

Please be aware that with the start of Trimester 2, 2025, we are experiencing high demand for registrations to receive a Study Access Plan (SAP). We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to support all students.
Once you’ve registered with us, we will work with you to develop a Study Access Plan (SAP) that outlines reasonable adjustments to allow equal access and participation in university life.
Types of adjustment might include:
- assessment and exam adjustments
- alternative formatting
- access to assistive technology
- lecture support
- library services
