Safety, Security & Information team

There are two UNE Life Safety, Security & Information offices:

  1. B089 is located in the Bellevue Precinct (colleges) near the corner of Elm Avenue and Handel St. Security operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, sometimes they’re not always in the office, however, a Safety, Security & Information officer is always available to attend any urgent incident or provide a helpful presence if for any reason you feel concerned for your safety.
  2. C018 is situated below The Bistro and adjacent to The Shop in the Ingrid Moses Courtyard. This is at the heart of the Academic Precinct and is staffed 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.

Staff and Student Escorts

Safety, Security & Information escorts are available 24/7 for staff and students.

Typical reasons for requesting an escort include:

  • Walking to or from college or your office after hours
  • Feeling unsafe at any time, day or night

Help Phones

Help Phones are located in prominent areas across campus, often attached to light poles like the one shown below.

You'll also find Help Phones in computer labs, car parks, and lifts. Press and hold the button to connect directly with UNE Life Safety, Security & Information.

Note: in some lifts, calls go to the lift company, who will contact someone on campus if needed.

UNE Safety Shuttle

As a UNE student, you have access to the UNE Safety Shuttle all year round. This service, managed by UNE Life Safety, Security & Information, offers regular and intensive shuttle options to help you get around safely

To stay updated on shuttle services, we recommend downloading the UNE Safe App:

  1. Open the UNE Safe App
  2. Tap the menu icon (triple bars) in the top left corner
  3. Select "UNE Safety Shuttle" to view route options (regular and intensives  shuttle)
  4. Track the live location of the shuttle on the map
  5. Flag the driver down for pickup
  6. Arrive safely at your destination

Please note: any code of conduct breaches will be reported to the Student Grievance Unit, college heads, or resident fellows as appropriate and may result in a suspension of shuttle access.
