Assessment Support During Natural Disasters

UNE is ready to assist students who may be impacted by local natural disasters, as well as those who are affected by personal situations and other global or regional events.

Assignments

Short extensions on assignments (generally two weeks or less) can be arranged. You may use the automated extension tool that allows you to self-register for a 7-day extension via the unit/s MyLearn site for most assessments. Where the automated extension tool is not available, please use the extension application portal.

Special Assessment

UNE can allow long extensions, deferred exams or deferred intensive schools, consideration in marking, and a host of other options to suit your circumstances. This can provide breathing space to get your assessments back on track once life has settled down.
For students living in areas impacted by a natural disaster, such as flooding, fire, cyclones, we want you to know that UNE will accept Special Assessment Applications on this basis without the need to provide supporting evidence.

Just tell us what you are dealing with within your application. We won't need you to take up the time of emergency services agencies to get confirmation of your circumstances.

To find more information or apply, please view the Special Assessment Application form or contact us on 1800 818 865.

Exams

If you won’t be able to access your online exam at the scheduled time due to temporary power outages or other short term disruptions, please contact the UNE Exams & eAssessment Team directly via AskUNE with the details or via 02 6773 2145 for urgent matters. We may be able to provide some flexibility by re-scheduling your exam start time.
