If you have unsuccessfully tried to resolve an issue at the University with the person directly involved (or their supervisor), you may submit a complaint to the Student Grievance Unit (SGU). The Student Grievance Unit will investigate complaints related to the administration of your studies, a behavioural misconduct, or the delivery of a University service.
Your complaint is informal if you don't want the University to keep a written record of the complaint, the process of investigating it and the outcome. Informal complaints should first be raised with the person you feel is responsible for the problem. If you're not sure who this is, or you don't want to approach that person yourself, contact UNE International 02 6773 3192 for confidential advice. Your complaint is formal if you do want the University to keep records of the complaint, the process of investigating it and the outcome. The Student Grievance Unit is an independent investigative unit that assists with and resolves complaints submitted by students. Students, staff, or members of the public may also submit a complaint in relation to a student’s conduct to the Student Grievance Unit. All contact with the Student Grievance Unit (SGU) should be made via forms available through AskUNE so that we can properly track progress from your initial contact. All University-wide rules, policies, protocols, procedures and guidelines are contained within the UNE Policy Register. You should always discuss any issues with your result or grade directly with your Unit Coordinator in the first instance. You may contact your Unit Coordinator using the contact details listed within your myLearn unit. If you wish to appeal a result or grade you received for a unit, your appeal should be completed in accordance with the Assessment Appeals Guidelines.
