Felicity Joseph

Biography

Felicity Joseph is Lecturer in Philosophy and Political Theory at UNE. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne (supervisor Marion Tapper), thesis title 'Phenomenologies of the Lived Body: Husserl, Stein, Merleau-Ponty and Marcel on Embodiment’. Felicity has taught at the University of Melbourne, Swinburne and RMIT, and at UNE has collaborated with U3A (University of the Third Age). She currently contributes to training for UNE’s Gender Equity in Agricultural Research for Development (GEAReD) program. As one of UNE’s new Teaching-Focused cohort, she looks forward to bringing her wide range of teaching experience to the disciplines of Philosophy, Politics and Gender Studies.

Research Interests

Felicity has a background in the Continental/European Philosophy tradition, and has a particular interest in applying the philosophical methods of phenomenology and existentialism to analyse contemporary issues. Other areas of interest include political philosophy and its re-thinking through feminist philosophy. She enjoys interdisciplinary collaboration, most recently on the themes of parenthood/motherhood and work.

Felicity is available to supervise PhD and MA students in any of the above areas.
