Applications - Psychology Reference Portal FAQs
IMPORTANT NOTICES
If you did not select UNE when first nominating your referees:
- You must submit a request through the Virtual Assistant on the Portal homepage.
- Once submitted, it will take up to 6 working days for this to be processed and appear in our system.
Disregard any additional referee report requests from UAC:
- If you have followed the Portal Instructions below, you do not need to respond to any system-generated emails from UAC requesting referee reports. These requests are not applicable to your application.
Deadline: 19 October
Release one academic referee report and one professional referee report to UNE through the Psychology Reference Portal.
- Your referee must submit their report through the Psychology Reference Portal on or after 1 January in the year you apply. Reports submitted before this date are not valid.
- You must then release your referee reports to UNE by 19 October.
Portal Instructions
- Register and login to the Psychology Reference Portal student portal.
- Select (one at a time) the referees you want UNE to see.
- Under the 'Nominated Higher Education Provider' section highlighted below, select University of New England.
- Click Save.
Note:
- Do not upload signed letters yourself.
- Once nominated, each referee receives an email invitation linking them to the Psychology Reference Portal to complete their report.
- Referees themselves log in and submit their references directly to the Psychology Reference Portal. You have no involvement in generating or uploading the file.
Referee Guidance
Referees may comment on any areas they feel are relevant to your suitability for postgraduate psychology training. Two to three sentences will suffice. This could include:
- Academic performance
- Emotional and social intelligence
- Maturity, empathy, and open-mindedness

- If you still need assistance:
- Use the Virtual Assistant (bottom right of the Portal homepage). It can answer most queries instantly.
- If the assistant can’t resolve your issue, it will refer you to the Psychology Reference Support Team.
