Far Out Science
Far Out Science is on again in 2026!
Join us at UNE for a day of hands-on workshops where students take on experimental challenges and get to see what happens in real university science laboratories with the scientists who are at the forefront of research and education. Understand chemistry in our everyday lives, connect neural pathways in neuroscience, learn about the science of food, try and unravel forensics, build a rocket launcher, and discover other amazing things in physics, sports science, botany, agriculture, maths and IT and much, much more...
THURSDAY 5 November 2026 for primary students in Years 5 & 6.
FRIDAY 6 November 2026 for secondary students in Years 7-10.
Activities each day will begin at 9:30am in Lazenby Hall at the UNE campus in Armidale, NSW, and finish at 2.45pm.
Groups will be limited to 30 primary students (Years 5 and 6) and 30 secondary students (Years 7-10) per school. For schools with over 500 students, we may be able to accommodate larger groups. Please contact us on the email below for more information.

Registration
Teachers, please have these things ready prior to registering:
- Number of students from each year who will be attending
- Whether Travel Assistance is required (if yes, complete the form)
- If travel assistance is required, have your bus/coach quotation ready.
Registrations will close on Wednesday 28 October 2026. Places are strictly limited and will be given on a first in, first served basis.
Travel Subsidies
If your school meets certain criteria, UNE is able to offer a travel subsidy to cover the costs of bus/coach transport. Once you have completed your online registration, you will find a link to our online Travel Assistance Application form. Please have your bus/coach quotation ready before completing the travel form.
