Programs of study in this area provide students with the knowledge and critical analytical skills to approach Indigenous Australian and intercultural educational contexts. Students explore critically the legacies of colonisation and racism in Australia and examine legislation, policies, strategies and curriculum documents that seek to redress the effects of these in educational contexts.

Special and Inclusive Education

Programs of study in this area provide students with knowledge and skills in the area of special and inclusive education. Students examine a range of effective and evidence-based instructional and assessment strategies for supporting the learning of students with diverse learning needs including the management of challenging behaviour.

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

Programs of study in this area provide a specialist professional qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and fosters the confidence, competence and enthusiasm of intending teachers for working with a broad range of learners from school level to adults. Students attend an intensive school as well as complete sixty hours of ESL practice teaching and reach a satisfactory standard of proficiency.
