Most of our students choose to study online across three study periods with 24/7 tutor support* and fit study around work and family commitments. Rule A: You have completed the UNE Graduate Certificate in Public Health (One Health) (AQF Level 8 or overseas equivalent).

Rule B: You have completed a Bachelor qualification (AQF Level 7 or overseas equivalent) in a health-related, business, management, agriculture, environment, animal science, veterinary medicine, statistics, law, education, arts or social sciences disciplines,* OR a Bachelor qualification (AQF Level 7 or overseas equivalent) in any discipline and an AQF Level 8, 9 or 10 postgraduate qualification (or overseas equivalent) in a health-related, business, management, agriculture, environment, animal science, veterinary medicine, statistics, law, education, arts or social sciences disciplines.*

Rule C: You have completed a minimum of three years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) relevant professional experience.*

- If you are admitted under Rule A, you will be granted 24 credit points of Specified Advanced Standing.
Individual Advanced Standing

What are the course fee payment options?
Full Fee places are mostly in postgraduate coursework degrees. In a full fee place you pay the tuition fee set for your course, however you may be eligible for a FEE-HELP Loan to defer payment of your fees until you are earning above the threshold.
If you are enrolled in a Full Fee place and there is a direct connection between your work and your study, you may be able to claim your tuition fees as a tax deduction.
A Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) is a government subsidised place in a university course. The government pays part of your tuition fees, and you pay the remainder.
If you have a CSP in either an undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) degree, you may be eligible for a HECS-HELP Loan, which allows you to defer payment of your fees until you are earning above the threshold.
UNE scholarships are open for all to apply and offer financial help while you are studying. There are scholarships for students with high academic achievement, from rural areas, studying specific degrees, in disadvantaged groups, experiencing financial hardship, who excel at sport or want to live in a UNE residential college.

The Graduate Diploma in Public Health (One Health) instils students with an integrative approach to humans, animals, plants, and environmental health, and provides them with the qualification needed to explore careers in the fields of environmental health, ecological epidemiology, veterinary medicine, socio-ecological systems, policy development and global health.
Course outcomes
- demonstrate specialised knowledge of the one health paradigm and the interconnections between humans, animals, plants, and environmental health;
- demonstrate an advanced understanding of the disease transmission risks among humans, animals and environments;
- apply critical thinking and judgement using biostatistics in a range of public health delivery scenarios;
- apply and analyse epidemiological methods to address public health issues in a variety of contexts;
- demonstrate specialised knowledge in a core area of public health (One Health);
- identify and critically analyse how the public health policy is linked to the health of humans and animals; and
- identify and critically evaluate current public health challenges in Australian and global Aboriginal and Indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of a Discipline
The knowledge of the discipline of Public Health (One Health) is taught, practised and assessed throughout the course.. The Graduate Diploma in Public Health (One Health) provides the learning materials and teaching support necessary to equip graduates for positions in a diverse range of public health settings.
- Communication Skills
Communication skills are taught, practised and assessed in this course. Graduates will demonstrate the application of the skills required for effective communication in public health contexts. Applying the principles of interprofessional communication, graduates will be able to enhance their interprofessional practice and collaborations in order to enhance better health outcomes.
- Problem Solving
Problem solving is taught, practised and assessed across the course. Problems that confront public health (One Health) professionals are extensive and their impact may be serious for humans, animals, plants, and environmental health. Within the course there is an emphasis on analytical skills and critical learning to develop methods and techniques to understand and find pathways to health promotion.
- Information Literacy
In an era of rapid technological development, information literacy is a critical driver of health organisational performance and growth. Graduates in this course will develop a solid foundation for using health information, knowledge and literacy strategically from a variety of sources. Graduates will be taught, practise and assessed in relation to information literacy skills. Graduates will need to identify, evaluate and synthesis relevant information effectively in assessments throughout the course.
- Ethical Conduct and Social Responsibility
This attribute is taught, practised and assessed throughout the course. Public health professionals have an important function in the community to optimise public health services. Studying this course, graduates will be able to apply critical reflection, analysis and interpretation of ethical principles and relevant social responsibilities required in public health contexts.

Lifelong learning is promoted throughout the course. Graduates will be prepared for lifelong learning through the application of critical and logical thinking skills to solve a range of problems which confront public health managers.

As an international student you can take advantage of flexible online study from overseas or while you are studying in Australia on a visa other than a student visa. You can’t study fully online on a Student Visa.
To study online from overseas you need to consider that you may need to travel to Australia to attend a UNE campus for some mandatory intensive schools.
