The world's economies, living standards, commercial and political systems are at the heart of the study of economics. Economics involves weighing up choices and alternatives and seeing how they impact upon businesses, societies and individuals. By applying quantitative analysis to current issues and trends, economists can develop and model scenarios to predict possible results and make recommendations on how to respond to produce the best outcomes.
You will look at how modern economies operate - how they trade and grow, the role of prices, supply and demand, and how business and government both affect and are affected by the economy. The insights economists provide allow organisations and individuals to plan and make better decisions for the future.
You will develop analytical skills to enable you to consider both quantitative and policy-based economic issues - practical skills and knowledge that can be then adapted to a range of careers.

A career in Agribusiness
The intersection of agriculture and business is the foundation of keeping Australians fed, and expertise in agribusiness makes for a flexible, innovative career. Help shape sustainable food supplies for generations to come by studying agribusiness with UNE.
UNE's outstanding reputation in agriculture and finance has really contributed to the progression of my career in this industry.
UNE has offered me so many opportunities, friendships and connections. My highlight has to be travelling around Qld and NSW expanding my education through various agricultural groups and conferences.
The most enjoyable part of my studies is the sense of achievement. Agriculture is pretty important on a global scale, it’s nice to have an education in something of international importance.
Agribusiness roles vary widely and cross multiple industries, from the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector to financial and insurance services and the transport, postal and warehousing industry. The good news is that the Australian Government's employment projections predict strong growth in all of these industries in the lead up to 2033.
