Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and Visa
If you are an international student holding a Student Visa studying at UNE , you must have a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) from UNE and a valid visa from Department of Home Affairs (DHA) for duration of your course.
We generally recommend applying for a new visa no earlier than three months before your current visa expires. This does not prevent you from requesting a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). However, most new Visa Applications require an updated CoE with up to date information. If you are coming to study on-campus in Armidale or Sydney, you must have health insurance. It's a condition of your student visa that you (and any family coming with you) have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). This is the minimum level of medical and hospital insurance international students need to study in Australia. You need to maintain this level of cover for the entire time you are here. UNE currently has an agreement with Bupa, a private health fund, for on-campus international students. In most cases, we will organise OSHC for you. However, you can select an approved OSHC provider yourself and pay the insurance. Before applying for a new Visa, you will need an updated CoE with an updated end-date. Please email InternationalServices for the process to request a new CoE, you will need to complete the Financial Capacity and Genuine Student documents. If your CoE will expire or you need to apply for a new CoE due to:
How to apply for a new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) or Visa
Once you have accepted your offer and have been issued with a valid Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), you will be able to apply for a student visa. As an international student visa holder, you are required to comply with your visa conditions. For information on the different visas available for Australia, you should view the Australian Government's Department of Home Affairs (DHA) website. Please note that the University can’t provide advice on other types of visas or provide migration law advice. If you are waiting for your visa approval, please check your ImmiAccount regularly and act quickly on requests for further information or documentation. If you haven’t started your visa application, make sure that your application is complete and includes all relevant documents before submitting. Please make sure you look at the 'How to Apply' on the Department of Home Affairs website.
