Photo Requirements and Upload

Passport Photo Requirements

You need to make sure your photo complies with the requirements for Australian passport photographs. Below is a summary of the most important features for Australian passport photos.

Acceptable:

  • Photo dimensions: at least 45mm high x 35mm wide (do NOT trim photos)
  • Head size: 32mm to 36mm from top of head to bottom of chin
  • Good lighting, no shadows behind head or on face
  • Eyes looking directly at camera
  • Plain, light-coloured background
  • High resolution, good quality paper
  • Coloured

Not acceptable:

  • Shadows behind head
  • “Red–eye”
  • Coloured background
  • Sepia, black and white or phone filters
  • Photograph size too small
  • Head size too large or too small
  • Reflections on glasses, tinted glasses, sunglasses
  • Glasses frame covering eyes
  • Not looking straight at camera
  • Not facing directly onto the camera
  • Marks or indentations on photo
  • Grainy, pixelated or blurry images

Photo Upload

Please ensure you have read the photo requirements above prior to uploading.

  • Photos in black and white, sepia, or using filters will not be accepted.
  • Image must be JPG file format and no larger than 5MB
  • Please ensure the name of your photo clearly identifies you, for example studentnumber-firstname-lastname (220012345-jane-smith.jpg)

If any of the requirements are not met then your photo will be rejected and your ID card will be delayed.


Proof of Identification Requirements

Your proof of identity requirments are determined by your selected collection method (above).

As you have selected collection from the UNE Life Safety, Security & Information Office, you will need to provide proof of identification when you go to collect your card.

Please ensure you have an original of one of the following forms of identification with you when you present to collect your card:

  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Valid Passport
  • Proof of Age/Photo Card

UNE Staff will need to sight your identification before your card can be issued.

If you do not hold one of the listed forms of id then you will be required to produce 100 points of certified ID.

As you have elected to have your card mailed, you will need to upload your proof of identification.

Please upload a certified copy of one of the following:

  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence
  • Valid Passport
  • Proof of Age/Photo Card

If you do not hold one of the listed forms of id then you will be required to upload 100 points of certified ID.

Identification type *

Copies supplied must be certified by an authorised person and be legible. Original documents are not to be sent to UNE Life Safety, Security & Information.

Uncertified documents will be rejected and your ID card will be delayed.
