Student ID Card

Your Student ID Card is your official proof of enrolment, displaying your photo and student number. You need it for:

  • Borrowing books from the library
  • Accessing computing labs after hours
  • When visiting campus for intensive schools
  • Sitting exams (photo ID required)
  • Using photocopying and printing services
  • Entering college and UNE study centres

How to Obtain Your Card:

You can choose to have your card mailed or pick it up in person.

  • Mailed directly to your residential address
  • Sent to UNE Sydney for collection at 28 George St, Parramatta
  • Picked up from the Safety, Security & Information office on the Armidale campus (located adjacent to the Central Courtyard next to The Shop, C18) after ID verification

Note: Allow up to 14 days for delivery.

Application Process:

  1. New Students: Apply for your ID card via the Student ID Card Application Form.
    • ID cards expire every 3 years.
  2. Resuming or Continuing Students: Request an update sticker or card replacement via email at idcard@une.edu.au, including your name, student number, and mailing address.

Intensive School Students:

All students attending Intensive Schools must apply for an ID card as outlined above.

Access to Buildings:

To request building access, complete the Electronic Access Request Form, signed by your unit coordinator, and email it to security@une.edu.au. Allow 24 hours for access.

Lost or Damaged Cards:

If your card is lost, stolen, or damaged, email security@une.edu.au immediately. For stolen cards, report to the police and provide a report number. A replacement is free with a police report; otherwise, there is a $10 fee.

Travel Concessions:

For Australian Students

Transport for NSW have stated that a travel concession is only available to Australian students who meet both criteria below:

  • they are studying Full-time at a tertiary institution. Here at UNE that equates to being enrolled in eight units over the three trimesters each year.
  • studying on campus. Here at UNE that means a student that is enrolled as an internal student. Not an externally enrolled student studying on-line or by distance education and only attending Intensive Schools.
For International Students

Transport for NSW have stated that a travel concession is only available to international students who meet either criteria:

  • when their study is fully funded by specified Australian Government scholarships.
  • or when the student is on an Endeavour Scholarship, an Australian Awards Scholarship, or an International Postgraduate Research Scholarship.
Applying for a Transport Concession Entitlement Card

Step 1.

Australian Students must first attend the Safety, Security & Information office located in building C018 on campus to complete the Transport for NSW Tertiary Student Concession for & verify their eligibility.

International Students must first attend the Safety, Security & Information office located in building C018 on campus to obtain & complete the Tertiary Student Concession form. Once completed, they are to attend the UNE International office located in building E021 on campus to verify their eligibility. The authorised form then needs to be returned to the C018 office.

Step 2.

Details of eligible students will be forwarded to Transport for NSW by Safety, Security & Information.

Step 3.

Allow 2-3 days for Transport for NSW to update their register of eligible students before applying directly to Transport for NSW for a Transport for NSW Tertiary Student Concession Card.
