Parking Permits
UNE has one (1) General Parking Category & four (4) permit categories on campus . They are :
General Parking - Parking in these bays is free of charge
- There are no restrictions on who can park in General Parking bays. If the entire car park is designated as General Parking, a Parking Sign with a "P" will be erected at the entrance to the car park. Car parks where other permit categories exist, General Parking bays will be identified with a "P" but the P will also include an arrow (right or left) to designated where the General Parking bays start & finish.
Red Permits
- Red bays will be first offered and allocated to staff that hold the position of Director / Head of School or above.
- Any Red bays that have not been allocated to Directors / Head of School or above will be allocated to eligible staff and/or students by Parking Administration.
- All decisions regarding the allocation of red parking bays is be final.
- Red parking bays are numbered and are for the exclusive use of the allocated permit holder 24/7.
- Red parking bays allocated to members of staff who leave employment of the university or students who cease to be enrolled must surrender their assigned red bay for reallocation on their separation date from the University.
- Vehicles issued with a red permit are permitted to park in the assigned Red bay & also in General Parking bays.
There are 4 x Red permit duration's that can be purchased. They are:
- Red - 12 Month
- Red - 6 Months
- Red - 4 Months
- Red - 2 Months
Applications for Red Bays
- Red bay applications open in the first week of January & close at the end of the first week in February. Both successful & non successful applicants will be contacted aprox 1 week after the closing date to advise the outcome of their application. Any unissued bays after this date are sold on a first come first served basis.
- Red bays will be first offered and allocated to staff that hold the position of Director / Head of School or above.

- Those successful applicants will then be directed on how to pay for their permit.
Red permits are linked to the parking calendar year which starts on the 1st March & ends on the last day of February each year. Red permits of lessor time periods when issued do not extend past the last day of February.
Salary Sacrifice
The University offers a Salary Sacrifice arrangement for Red Permits only. This arrangement allows for the full cost of the permit to be deducted from an individual's pay over either 2 x Pays (2 Month & 4 month permits ) or 5 pays (6 month & 12 month permits) as a pre-tax (salary sacrifice) deduction. Those people who are successful in obtaining a Red bay will be advised how to access the Salary Sacrifice form when they receive the confirmation email.

Green Permits - Service Vehicles
- Service vehicle permits are made available to university motor fleet vehicles and approved contracted service providers upon application.
- Green Service Vehicle permits can be collected after approval from the Safety, Security & Information office located in building C018 adjacent to the central courtyard.
- Vehicles issued with a green permit are permitted to park in green parking areas, and loading zones for extended periods to that signposted.
- Green permits are issued free of charged to approved contractors & like red permits are linked to the UNE parking calendar year & expire on the last day of February each year.
Gold Permits
- Gold virtual permits are issued to members of the UNE Council free of charge by Parking Administration. The holder of a valid gold permit is permitted to park in "free parking" areas as well as loading zones and timed bays for extended periods to that signposted.
- Members of the UNE Council who leave or resign their position from Council will have their Gold Permit cancelled on their separation date from Council.
- Council members with a Gold Permit are not permitted to park in Red Bays.
Black - Parking Permits
- These permits are issued internally by the Vice Chancellors Officer & the Wellness Centre to assist with the operational functions of the business unit.
Purchasing Permits
- Red parking bay arrangements will remain unchanged for the remainder of 2025. Physical red parking stickers will be distributed to red bay owners.
- Those wishing to purchase a red bay in 2025 are to contact Safety, Security & Information by either email at parking@une.edu.au or by phoning 6773 3485
