Peter Carter is Chair of the Northern NSW Local Health District Board, bringing over 40 years of specialised experience in healthcare strategy, planning, innovation, quality, safety and management to the role. His distinguished career includes former CEO positions at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, as well as international experience as Chief, Board Member and Expert of the International Society for Quality in Health Care.

Peter studied on campus at UNE, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Diploma in Education in 1971, before completing his Master of Educational Administration in 1975. During his time at UNE, he was a resident of Robb College and President of the Junior Common Room in 1970.

Peter has been fortunate to have had a mentor himself for much of his career.
