Unit information
This unit is broken into three sections. You will create a reflective portfolio on your practical experience, you will develop your communication skills to an advanced level, and you will be able to critically evaluate the future of agriculture.
It allows the culmination of your experiences and the synthesis and application of your skills in agriculture.
This unit is the capstone unit for final year Bachelor of Agriculture, Bachelor of Agriculture/Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Agriculture/Bachelor of Laws students, and third year of Bachelor of Rural Science students.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:
- demonstrate a coherent understanding of agriculture by articulating its role and the major biophysical, economic, environmental, social and policy drivers that underpin current and future agricultural practice and development for producers, processors and consumers that are contestable and testable by further inquiry.
- critically analyse and solve agricultural problems by gathering, synthesising and critically evaluating information from a range of sources, designing and planning an investigation, selecting and applying practical and/or theoretical techniques or tools in order to conduct an investigation and collecting, accurately recording, interpreting and drawing conclusions from data.
- investigate and evaluate complex issues through innovative and critical use of a variety of available data sources, and the scientific literature, and then synthesise the information to form and defend a cogent argument supporting a viewpoint on these issue
- effectively synthesise and communicate agricultural information or arguments, using a range of modes for a variety of purposes and audiences including effective interpersonal communication in gaining agreement, group facilitation and adversarial negotiation.
- prepare and present a reflective learning portfolio of the development of their skills and knowledge capacity though their practical experience and educational experiences.

Assessments are subject to change up to 8 weeks prior to the start of the teaching period in which you are undertaking the unit.

| Reflective Learning Assessment - Assurance Task | Yes | 30% | All offerings | Timed assessment (either in class for on campus or via Proctor U for off campus) to provide written reflections on work experience completed and to link to current challenges in agriculture. For on campus students this will be completed in class. For online students this exam will be completed online with supervision via webcam and screen sharing technology, coordinated by UNE Exams Unit.
