Biography

Subas started his career as a communication officer in an integrated conservation and development project (ICDP) funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in South Asia and went on to complete a PhD in Sustainability and Technology Policy (Murdoch, Western Australia).

He is an Associate Professor at the University of New England (UNE) Business School (Armidale, NSW). He focuses on research-informed teaching that fosters student engagement in education for sustainability and research initiatives that center on applying sustainability policies and strategies to solve economic, environmental, and social challenges in Asia Pacific/South Asia.

After finishing doctoral studies at Murdoch University (Perth, WA), Subas was awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Southern Cross University (Gold Coast, QLD) under the federally funded Collaborative Research Network (CRN) Programme. Before joining UNE as a Senior Lecturer in 2019, he was a lecturer at Curtin University (Bentley, WA).

His research interests align with the Field of Research (FoR): strategy, management, and organisational behaviour (FoR Code: 3507) and b) Policy Administration (FoR: 4407) – both advance strategic research priorities of UNEBS/SABL/UNE. His recent publications have been in three of the following thematic areas: a) the ageing population & society, b) the future of education & employment, and c) socio-economic resilience in the context of sustainable development goals.

Subas has published over 100 research outputs, including two books, co-edited four edited volumes of over 50 high-impact journal articles and book chapters, and presented at more than two dozen national and international conferences. He has received various grants worth nearly AU$ 450,000 in funding in the past 7 seven years. He currently serves as:
